About the studio

Thirty years of patient hands at the keyboard.

I've taught everyone from six-year-olds picking out their first melody to adults coming back after forty years away from the piano. The instrument is the same for all of them; the conversation around it is different.

Lessons

By age & level.

Different starting points, different rhythms. Everyone progresses.

Ages 6–9
Foundations

30-min lessons. Pre-reading, rhythm, simple repertoire. First recital after 4 months.

Ages 10–14
Level 1–3

45-min lessons. Full reading, scales, two-part invention. Level tested yearly.

Ages 15+
Level 4+

60-min lessons. Advanced repertoire, interpretation, performance.

Pre-college
Conservatory prep

Audition pieces, theory, sight-reading. By audition only.

Studio policies

The rules of the road.

Good relationships need clear agreements. These exist because they've prevented problems over 30 years.

Cancellation

More than 24 hours notice: make-up within the same month. Less than 24: forfeited. Illness is always excused.

Make-ups

Scheduled at studio availability. Max one per month. Teacher illness: I always owe you a lesson.

Payment

Monthly autopay on the 1st. Late fee $15 after the 10th. Semester-in-advance: 5% discount.

Practice

Beginners: 10–15 min × 5 days. Intermediate: 30 min × 5 days. Advanced: self-directed.

Recitals

December & May. Strongly encouraged, not required. $25 fee · business casual.

Ending lessons

30 days written notice. Lets me plan the roster and notify the waitlist.
